Here’s a really useful post from the Wirecutter about a “great, cheap way to turn a dock into a more flexible wireless dock, or to bypass the iPhone 5’s new connector“. The post refers to wireless adapters for docks, specifically the I-WAVE Bluetooth Music Receiver, which attaches via the 30-pin connector, but note that there are also other adapters that use the 3.5mm auxiliary-in. These little adapters seem like a great way to add new life to docks that are incompatible with the new iPhone 5, or standalone units that you simply never used because they were inconvenient to reach. This is something well worth highlighting, given the recent change to the Lightning connector on the iPhone 5 and new series of iPods.
I’ve actually got my personal stereo hooked up via aux-in to an older Airport Express so I can pump tunes out over AirPlay – so keep that solution in mind, as well.
