Fortune is reporting on research released by Retail Sails, which ranks Apple as the the top US retail chain in regards to sales per square foot. The report claims that Apple sells over $6000 in merchandise, per square foot. This is double the sales of runner-up Tiffany & Co.
Apple was at the top of Retail Sails list last year as well. Apple even saw 7.5% growth in sales per square foot, but this has slower considerably from Retail Sails estimation of 49.1% growth. This can be explained however, as Apple is now building larger, more iconic stores, and the iPhone and iPad, which make up much of Apple’s sales, have many other points of retail distribution.
