It’s pretty much equivalent with how you use the keyboard on a Mac:

The only thing I go back to Mac for is large amounts of photo editing. I have a suggestion to help with the need to tap on the screen so often. I received a Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover as a present. It has special keys to move the curser around on the iPad screen and to make selections. Once I mastered these keys, I found it greatly reduced the number of times I had to take my hand off the keyboard. And best of all, it uses the iPads built in magnets to attach to the iPad.

You can jailbreak it and use a mouse or magic Trackpad.

Memory cards are not a reliable medium and are very slow.

The arrows keys only go up/down and right/left it is still not a substitute for a proper mouse with right and left click functions I tried to use my ipad as a laptop replacement and it was more of a bother and a hassel trying to find work arounds for everything and I ended up abanding my efforts and going back to my macbook pro.

The ipad does not support mouse function, I ask a tech at the apple store and he said if you want true keyboard and mouse function to get the 11″ macbook air if apple added those functions to the ipad it would take away sales from the macbook air thats why it does not have a file system and mouse support and a sd card slot.

Thats why they made windows 8 and the Surface pro! This article seems to contradict that.

If that speeds up the work flow over poking the screen, I see it as a worthwhile compromise.

Agree. I just can’get get much work done on an iPad–at least night like I can on a laptop. I don’t want to create work-a-rounds and take extra steps just to use an iPad as my main device. An 11″ MacBook Air with built in LTE would be the ultimate merging of protability and workability,

The fact that I can do important things faster and more efficiently on my MacBook Pro means that the iPad remains an entertainment device in my daily life. Yes, I can technically get much of my daily work done on an iPad, but it’s much slower and much more frustrating. And if I’m going to lug around a Bluetooth keyboard, then I may as well use the MacBook – my iPhone will suffice when all I want to do is check email or Facebook.

Being a systems admin for a school district, I’m always intrigued how teachers utilize technology and how we can better equip them to keep up with their classroom needs.
