Fans of old-school-style first-person shooters take note: Gun Commando, an FPS where aliens — that’s right, aliens — are the bad guys, is scheduled for release to the App Store later this month. If you long for the days of Duke Nukem, it looks like you’ll want to give Gun Commando a go. According to Ripstone’s website:
Gun Commando is a First Person Shooter with a classic Shoot ’em Up feel, the two genres combining to create a unique and action packed environment. The earth has been invaded by alien forces, and all that stands between the oblivious civilians and their grim fate is you; a war torn commando who lives for covert action. Your deadliest mission yet takes you on a city-wide journey of destruction.
The old school gamer in me has been sucked in just by the screenshots. But Gun Commando isn’t just about the retro. The game is feature packed, including an interesting weapon upgrade system that rewards accuracy. This sounds like a refreshing break from the typical “spray your rounds everywhere” strategy most FPS’s employ.
Ripstone has yet to announce a price for the iOS version, but for what it’s worth, the PS Vita copy costs roughly three bucks.
