Vine updated with front-facing camera support


Vine users have found no shortage of creative ways to utilize the super short-form video format, from 6-second movie trailers to stop-motion animation. Surprisingly, until now they’ve done it all without the aid their iPhone’s secondary camera. That all changes today, as Vine has introduced an update that enables the FaceTime lens for video capture.

Welcome to the era of video selfies, not that animated self-portraits are anything new to Vine. Now they’re just easier to capture. Perhaps the niftiest part of all is the ability to switch between the front and back cameras mid-clip, which is sure to lead to some creative new video montages.  6-second reaction videos, anyone?

Also new in the update is the now ubiquitous ‘@’ mention, allowing you to tag other Vine and Twitter users directly in the app. The latest version is available now as a direct download from the App Store.
