Bringing Traktor DJ to iPad was an impressive feat for Native Instruments, but paring down the pro mixing software for use on an even smaller display takes things to a whole different level. The new app is more than a simple port of the existing mobile version of Traktor, but it still provides all of the features you get in its $20 tablet equivalent.
Aspiring mobile DJs get access to Traktor’s superior beat-matching technology along with hot cues, EQs, filters, and a selection of effects to spice up the mix. If you own the desktop version of Traktor, the app even allows for library sharing between the two.
The interface itself has been simplified to provide easy, touch-enabled access to all the controls needed to create a simple DJ set while retaining visual waveforms to help in on-the-fly mixing. Best of all, Traktor DJ for iPhone is priced at only $4.99, which we say is well worth the price of admission.
