T-Mobile iPhone 5 sees price increase

T-Mobile’s move away from subsidized pricing offers a unique sales model for a major wireless provider. It also offers one of the best deals on the iPhone 5 that you will find, even after the carrier has upped the price of the handset after initially offering it for $99 down. That introductory pricing has given way to a $150 down payment.

Monthly payments remain at $20, meaning the overall pricing of the 16GB version of the phone has risen to $630 from $580, which still comes in cheaper than buying the device unlocked from Apple at $650.

T-Mobile didn’t quite make it clear that their $99 price tag was merely a promotional offer, but no use crying over spilled milk. The magenta network certainly isn’t. In its first month after launching for the carrier, half a million units have already been sold.
