Most of the time. I have had more issues with iMessage in the last few months then since the service frist went live. But if you have friends with iPad’s, or iPhones, or Mac’s–you can’t beat it with a stick. Love it when it works!

It depends on the user. Personally, I prefer the walled garden approach, just with some more flexibility. I sell open systems for a living, so I am well acquainted with both the strengths and weaknesses. In the end, open isn’t easy. In fact, it’s usually a hell of a lot harder to integrate and operate.

Again, I just want to see Apple fix issues. I know they aren’t going to open up iMessage, or add social integrations beyond Facebook and Twitter. That’s not how they operate, and the situation with documents is similar. I just want them to add the most flexibility they can under the walled garden approach. Consolidating what they already have in place would be a great start.

According to Mirriam-Webster Online, regardless and irregardless have the same meaning.

But yeah, walled garden approach is slowly coming back to bite Apple in the ass. They need to adapt.

This is a sensible, well thought out and reasoned argument. I agree that the limitations on Messages means that Apple haemorrhage sales to Blackberry (inferior technology. BBM is a massive ‘draw’ for teenagers) and the lack of joined up thinking on iCloud/documents is a barrier to use. I mention iCloud because of the way in which documents are filed by ‘type’ (specifically by the program that created them) which is irrational. I’d use iCloud more (at all) if I could file pdf documents in folders with created pages documents that I may need to edit.
I hadn’t thought about the fact that the camera roll provides exactly that functionality. Well done.
