Prototype first-generation Apple TV surfaces on Craigslist

If you’re interested in getting your hands on a little piece of Apple history, get the checkbook ready. A prototype of the first-generation Apple TV has made its way to Craigslist with a listed price of $7000.

It’s rare we see an Apple prototype find its way outside the walls of the company’s Cupertino headquarters. Perhaps the most high-profile instance of this occurring was the infamous incident that saw an Apple employee leave an iPhone 4 test build behind at a bar.

This Apple TV prototype doesn’t come with quite the same amount of drama, but it’s still a pretty cool find. It supposedly originally surfaced at flea market in 2009 before finding its way into its current owner’s hands. Worth the ridiculous asking price? Probably not…but what self-proclaimed fanboy could sleep at night knowing this isn’t part of their collection?
