As today’s WWDC keynote approaches rapidly, The Wall Street Journal is reporting that we will indeed see the debut of a new streaming music component of iTunes. The paper calls it Apple’s biggest push in digital music distribution since the debut of iTunes, but aside from confirming that it will launch after the company secured the necessary licensing deals with major labels, little new info on the platform is provided.

As has been reported numerous times, Apple’s so-called iRadio will operate in a fashion similar to popular internet radio service Pandora: a free-for-all, ad-supported streaming radio model. iRadio will be boosted by text and audio advertisements  as part of Apple’s iAd platform, and users will be able to quickly purchase the current track via iTunes.

WWDC’s keynote address will be kicking off in just a few short hours. Be sure to stay tuned to iSource for live coverage as Apple announces its latest round of software and hardware updates.
