
Apple is said to be in talks in talks with Time Warner Cable, approaching a deal that will see some of the latter companies cable TV content make its way to Apple TV. To aid in reaching an agreement, the maker of the $99 streaming media box has hired Pete Distad of Hulu to oversee negotiations.
If all works out, we could see Time Warner’s programming made available via Apple TV in the form of on-demand content within the next few months. It would follow the addition of HBO and ESPN as media devices like Apple TV and Roku continue to challenge the standard cable subscription model. While many providers have been hesitant to jump on board, Time Warner has struck similar deals with other hardware manufacturers in the past including Xbox and the aforementioned Roku.
