Google Maps updated with iPad support, indoor maps

Yes, you too can now navigate your nearest shopping mall, iPad in hand, chowing free WiFi. Google Maps has reached version 2.0 for iOS and brings support for Apple’s game changing tablet and introduces indoor maps for those that need walking directions from Hot Topic to Macy’s, with a possible stop at the Apple Store along the way.

But that’s not all! Also new to Maps: enhanced navigation with live traffic updates (incident reports included), a new discovery tool for local places dubbed Explore, and offline caching of maps. That last point you will need to know a little trick to access. Just type “ok maps” in the search bar to save the portion of the map you are viewing for offline recall.

The new update is available now from the App Store. Grab it before you find yourself lost in an airport with no obvious help in sight.
