A new report is adding to chatter that Apple is in the testing phases of updated iPhone and iPad models featuring larger displays. While it has been the general mobile trend, will Apple really launch a plus-sized handset?

Report again states Apple could go bigger with future iPhone and iPad

Another report, this time out of the WSJ, is again pointing toward the possibility of a larger iPhone in the future. Also for the first time an iPad that goes opposite of the mini is being discussed.

According to the latest, numerous iPhone display sizes are being tested, while a 12.9-inch iPad is an option that is also being explored. We heard a similar report stating that 2014 could feature the release of an iPhone with a 4.7-inch or 5.7-inch display. More recently, claims that Apple might delay the iPhone 5S launch in order to outfit the phone with a 4.3-inch display also surfaced (though we have taken that rumor with a large grain of salt).

While a larger iPhone should certainly fit with the trend started by its Android-based peers, such devices might never see the light of day outside of Apple’s R&D department. In fact, given Apple’s history we’d say this is likely the case.
