
Senior vice president of technologies Bob Mansfield’s name has disappeared from Apple’s executive profiles, leading to the discovery that the man has moved on from his former role. He has not, however, moved on from Apple.
Mansfield already attempted to do that once, retiring briefly then resuming his duties at Apple upon the departure of Scott Forstall. At present, Mansfield has apparently been tasked with work on “special projects,” a blanket term that could cover just about anything but has most recently been linked to development of the iWatch. His interest in such wearable technologies has been noted in the past, asĀ The VergeĀ points out.
Mansfield’s new role is expected to be a bit more hands-on than in the past. Instead of working as part of a team led by Tim Cook, he will report directly to him.
