Of the three Chinese carriers, China Mobile remains the lone holdout on the iPhone and iPad. Could that change after Apple CEO Tim Cook met with chairman Xi Guohua to discuss what are being called “matters of cooperation?”
While the specifics of any conversations the two had have not been made public, China Mobile could indeed use a boost, and vice versa. China Mobile is seeking greater 3G adoption by its userbase, while Apple is hoping to turn around declining sales in the Greater China market. The Cupertino-based company said sales in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan had dropped 45 percent over the previous quarter.
