Tons of third parties came out with wristbands to convert this little guy into a watch. It was a neat hack but looked just like one: big clunky square on a wristband… just like the new Gear from Samsung.

I haven’t worn a watch for years… and even though I’m a Galaxy Note user already… there isn’t anything compelling about this thing that has me wanting to change that.

Hopefully if Apple decided to enter the “smart phone” market they’ll introduce something small enough that it doesn’t scream “techie” while still being large enough to do something more useful than just tell the time.

Personally, I’d have to have a smartphone the size of a Pipboy 3000 to feel like it’s giving me worthwhile data (anything I can already do well on my phone doesn’t warrant me buying another device that does it too.)

Thanks. I, too, am like you. I still like to think that Apple does what they want, when they want on their own terms. However the market place is more competitive and crowded than ever before.

Very true and I respect your response. Part of that makes sense. I am an old school mac fan. I remember a time when Apple beat to it’s own drum and did not really care what anyone else thought. I guess reality should sit in and make me wake up to the fact that those days are gone.. and I still think this think is UGLY! 😛

Right now these things don’t seem like they will be able to do much that makes them worth the price but 5-20 years in the future with technology advanced even more the possibilities are limitless and a race between 2 companies to get there first will further that a long. I was thinking yesterday at how cool it would be in the future if these things could get you tons of info on your vitals such as heart rate, blood pressure, etc. in addition to other things we love our gadgets to do. I just hope when apple makes theirs it has a sleek design. The galaxy gear kinda reminds me of those calculator watches people wore back in the day lol.

I’m sure the relevance has to do with the “impending” iWatch, or whatever Apple ends up calling it. Yes, it’s butt ugly, expensive and not what I would expect from Apple. I think that’s the point. In the absence of an iWatch, we are left to debate what Apple might do differently. That doesn’t make this an Android article. It just invites conversation and speculation.

Why? On top of it this thing is gawd awful ugly. Its looks like a bad iPod Nano rip off screwed to a wrist band. Stick with Apple information please…
