Apple has commented today that it has already sold out of some select models of the iPhone 5S, describing the interest in the newest iPhone model as “incredible.” Reporting to ATD, an Apple representative commented the following

Apple has yet to provide any details on the numbers of phones sold, or the specific breakdown of sales–yet. We typically can expect sales numbers following the first weekend immediately following a new launch.
In addition, ATD is also reporting that the availability of the gold iPhone is in short supply, with Apple updating the availability of the gold version to October for all capacities and carriers, with 7-10 day wait times for the grey and silver models.
With the incredible demand for the gold version of the iPhone 5S, the WSJ is reporting that Apple has increased production quantities by one-third for the gold variant of the iPhone, further fueling the belief that Apple may have underestimated the interest in the new color option.
