Apple TV 6.0 update reportedly halted

In the shuffle of the new iPhone launch and release of iOS 7, an update to Apple TV version 6.0 flew under the radar last week. That update, which enabled iTunes Radio, enhanced iCloud support, and music purchases, has now apparently been pulled from the airwaves.

Reports say that for some users, updating their Apple TV hardware to the latest software version resulted in a bricked device. OK, not totally bricked (the hardware can be restored with a bit of troubleshooting), but bricked enough for Apple to find reason to halt the update.

There has been no statement out of Cupertino in regards to the matter, but this doesn’t look good either way. If Apple wants to make their TV platform an emphasis, it would help not to make the update process a headache for current users.
