Apple brings on Burberry CEO to lead retail division

Apple has announced a new edition to its executive staff Monday, naming Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts as the new head of the company’s retail arm. Ahrendts will fill a void that has more or less existed since the departure of Ron Johnson after his move to J.C. Penny.

Arendts won’t officially begin her new job until next year, and will report directly to Tim Cook, Apple’s current CEO. Prior to joining Burberry in 2006, she served as an executive vice president at Liz Claiborne.
