As expected, Apple has announced an updated iPad Mini with Retina display alongside the new iPad Air. The smaller brother in Apple’s tablet lineup gets a display resolution that matches its larger counterpart at 2048 x 1536 pixels.
The 7.9-inch slate features many of the same features as the iPad Air, including 5MP iSight camera and front-facing FaceTime HD camera, MIMO WiFi, and 10 hour battery life. More important it carries the 64-bit A7 processor introduced with the iPhone 5S and announced for the iPad Air.
The iPad Mini with Retina display will ship in two colors, silver and space gray, when it becomes available in late November at a price of $399. The current iPad Mini will remain available at a reduced price of $299.
