Apple’s vide president of iOS chose an interesting time to leave the company. After over 20 years spent working on the software side of Cupertino’s Mac and mobile offerings, Henri Lamiraux has retired, apparently making his departure official with the rollout of iOS 7.0.3.
While one should retire when he or she wants to retire, Lamiraux isn’t exactly leaving at a high point for iOS. While Apple’s latest iPhone and iPad devices have pulled in rave reviews, the iOS 7 software they run has received a mixed reception, including a good deal of criticism.
No replacement has been named for Lamiraux, who joined Apple in 1990 as a Mac software engineer before entering the OS X managerial tree and transitioning to iOS. Lamiraux had been acting as vice president of Apple’s iOS ventures since September of 2009.
