Nike’s FuelBand is one of a recent crop of fitness trackers that skew towards simplicity, emphasizing an active lifestyle without the hassle of counting calories, miles, and hours of strenuous activity. The aim of FuelBand is simple: encourage users to be more active. Now iPhone 5S users can get that same experience absolutely free thanks to Nike and the M7 coprocessor.
Nike+ Move was highlighted at the iPhone 5S launch event and is now live in the App Store for download. Similar to the FuelBand, Move tracks your activity in NikeFuel points, giving you a bird’s eye view of your daily expenditure.
The M7 coprocessor is key here, as it offers a constant way to track motion information from the iPhone 5S’ sensors without taxing the handset’s battery. In fact, when downloading the app for the first time you will be greeted with an existing activity history based on information already collected by the M7 chip.
Move doesn’t offer some of the more advanced features of the Nike FuelBand and its accompanying app, but it also doesn’t require any extra hardware. Grab the app for free from iTunes or the App Store now.
