Over the summer Apple began offering in-store display replacements for the iPhone 5. Soon the retailer will be outfitted with equipment to do the same for the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. Sources speaking to 9to5Mac say that Apple will begin supplying its stores with specialized tools to repair broken displays along with several other hardware fixes.
These repairs include replacing the battery, volume buttons, rear camera, vibrating motor, and speaker system for both the iPhone 5S and 5C. Home button replacements will also be offered for the 5C, though 5S Touch ID repairs will not be possible in-store.
The price of replacing damaged or broken parts will range from $29 (Home button) to $149 (screen replacement), which is far cheaper than buying a replacement device. Apple Care will cover replacements for any defective parts at no charge.
