Apple surprised us all with the release of the iPad mini with Retina display earlier this morning, but those rushing to the Apple Store to pick up the new tablet might be greeted with disappointment. Initial indicators, including Apple’s official press release, point to the tablet only being available for purchase online.
The closest buyers will get to the Apple Store experience is selecting personal pickup as the delivery method at checkout. If it’s anything like iPad Air launch day, that might not be the smoothest experience, but Apple isn’t providing many other options.
Third-party retailers and wireless carriers should still be stocking the device in stores for purchase directly. Talk of constrained supplies could make the new iPad mini hard to come by, however. If you have bought or are planning to buy an iPad mini with Retina today let us know how the experience went/goes.
