The MOGA Ace Power will be the first peripheral to take advantage of the GameController API introduced in iOS 7, but does it live up to expectations? Initial reviews are mixed, but you can find out for yourself when the device launches tomorrow for $99.

MOGA announces first iPhone game controller, available for $99

With the GameController API distributed as part of iOS 7 we can expect a number of gamepad accessories for the iPhone to come to market in the coming months. The first? MOGA’s Ace Power.

Compatible with devices in the iPhone 5 family tree (and the fifth-gen iPod touch), the gamepad envelops the handset and connects via the Lightning port, providing gamers with a complete set of analog sticks, d-pads, and buttons to mash. Even better, the gamepad provides a reserve of battery power to charge a connected iPhone or iPod during marathon gaming sessions.

Early response has been mixed, mostly due to the limited number of games officially supported. The MOGA Ace Power will be available tomorrow via Apple’s retail and online stores as well as direct from MOGA’s site at a price of $99.
