The HBO Go app has been updated with support for Google’s Chromecast streaming peripheral. The app (in both its iOS and Android variants) now allows users to push content directly from their phone or tablet to the big screen by way of the $35 media dongle.
While the price is right, a major sticking point for current and potential Chromecast users has been a lack of supported content streams. Apps and services must individually enable support for Google’s low-cost television alternative, and they haven’t exactly been quick in doing so.
The addition of HBO Go should certainly please more than a few fans of the networks content. News that Comcast will offer the premium channel’s streaming platform as part of bundled internet services and free of a required cable subscription only makes Chromecast support all the sweeter.
