While there seems to be a new rumor about the iPhone 6’s display size every week, one thing is becoming increasingly certain: Apple will indeed up the screen proportions of their next-gen smartphone. The latest claim comes from C Technology, and says Apple is currently testing a 4.9-inch iPhone prototype. Also mentioned is an iPhone 5C followup that would feature a larger display, as well.
We’ll take the latest report, which is based out of “insider” reports to the Chinese media outlet, with a grain of salt. You’ll remember it was only earlier this month that Bloomberg claimed next year would see two new iPhones featuring 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays, respectively. Multiple reports from the WSJ point toward Apple testing handsets with displays as large as 6 inches. Analysts have hedged their bets on a 4.8-inch screen.
The one common theme? The display of the next iPhone (or iPhones) will be a significant boost from the current generation’s. It would seem we can bank on this fact with confidence. Has Apple even settled on the final measurement? With so many conflicting reports, it’s hard to say.
