Ever heard that urban legend that says sticking your phone in the microwave for 30 seconds is a quick way to juice up the battery? First, don’t do that. If it was that easy no one would be waiting hours at a time using traditional charging methods. Second, that was my first thought upon seeing this Kickstarter from Covena Design.

In the case of Foaster, however, sticking your iPhone into a kitchen appliance is perfectly acceptable. OK, not totally. Sticking your phone into a charging dock designed to look like a kitchen appliance is perfectly OK.
Foaster is a iPhone charging station designed to make charging your device as easy as possible. Instead of requiring two hands to support the phone and guide a cable toward the phone’s charging port, you can simply drop the handset into one of Foaster’s two slots and go. While we’re sure the folks behind Foaster put a lot of thought into this aspect of its design…come on. It looks like a freaking toaster. How cool?
Foaster launched last week and has already crossed the $4,000 mark. To meet its goal and make a promised March 2014 release possible, there is still a bit more than needs to be earned, however. Covena Design is looking to raise $40,000 by December 21st. You can help out and snag your own Foaster by following the link below.
