Angry Birds GO! flies into the App Store

In true uber-franchise fashion, the Angry Birds are breaking out of the finger flicking mold and trying their wings at something a little different: a Mario Kart-esque racer. Angry Birds GO! is now available as a free download from the App Store, featuring downhill racing action between the birds and pigs we have grown so intimately acquainted with over the years.

Of course, the title retains most of the charm of Angry Birds, offering unique abilities depending on which character you play. The familiar red, yellow, and blue birds (and others) all perform special maneuvers in line with those presented in older iterations, but with a fast-paced twist.

As a free download, it’s probably worth snagging Angry Birds GO! just to see what it’s all about. Changing up the stye of gameplay adds a bit of life to the franchise, but it’s only a matter of time before we see a hundred versions of the Angry Bird racer. Angry Birds GO! Star Wars, anyone?
