Apple rounds out year of acquisitions with Catch and BroadMap

2013, at least the second half, has been a fairly big year for Apple in terms of acquisitions. Cupertino can now add BroadMap and Catch to a quietly growing list of buyouts that includes Israeli startup PrimeSense and second-screen service Matcha.TV.

Apple has yet to officially announce its latest round of acquisitions, and as with all the exact motivations behind the mini spending spree are not known. BroadMap is, as implied by its name, concerned with mapping and navigation. It wouldn’t be a stretch to see their technologies used to improve Apple’s Maps (PrimeSense, too, could have been bought for this purpose). Catch, on the other hand, offered a note-taking app.

While confirming the acquisitions, which both are in fact newly discovered by months old, neither Apple nor BroadMap and Catch discussed details of their dealings.
