The new Mac Pro isn’t your typical Apple product. Yes, it carries some of the same philosophies in terms of design and use. It’s sleek, powerful, and user-friendly. It’s so user-friendly, in fact, that this is exactly what sets it apart from other Apple products.
iFixit has completed a full teardown of the latest Apple workstation to find that it is easily the most repairable device out of Cupertino this year. It’s construction even makes it easy to configure and upgrade at home. There are no special tools required and no glue binding he casing tightly. RAM can be installed with little fuss and a socketed CPU even leaves open the possibility of upgrading the Mac Pro’s processor down the road.
The biggest design quirk sees the tower’s SSD chained to one of the Mac Pro’s GPU cards, but this is potentially a bonus if it suggests that users could potentially install more than one internal storage drive.
Overall, the teardown reveals what we all hoped. The Mac Pro, designed to be a user-configurable workstation for power users, is exactly that. Who would have thought.
