Last spring we got a preview of Lightroom for iOS, but the app looked far from complete. Now references to Lightroom for Mobile have appeared and subsequently disappeared from Adobe’s site. Could it be an indication that the photo editing suite will soon launch?
9to5Mac did some sleuthing and was unable to get any sort of official confirmation. An Adobe source, however, says the Lightroom for Mobile is indeed headed to iPad.
In the May report, the ability to sync Lightroom projects between PC and mobile via the cloud was teased, and this indeed seems to remain the apps major play. It won’t come cheap, though. Speculation (based on the Adobe website) is that Adobe will charge a $100 yearly subscription for the service as part of their Creative Cloud.
The bottom line? Lightroom for Mobile may or may not be launching in the short term. Signs point towards the inevitable, but Adobe’s lack of confirmation seems to indicate otherwise.
