VLC just got the iOS 7 treatment, but a new look isn’t the only thing users can expect. Along with a new interface tailored toward the look and feel of Apple’s simplified mobile platform, VLC adds in new multitouch gesture controls for playback.
Tapping with two fingers pauses a video and swiping gestures can control playback position, volume, and even brightness. A horizontal swipe jogs through video while vertical swipes (focused on either the right or left half of the display) control volume and brightness.
With this update, VLC for iOS is starting to show the maturity of a refined media app rather than a cobbled-together open source project. The addition Dropbox and HTTP streaming as well as Google Drive connectivity is compounded better media organization, advanced codecs, and lock screen privacy.
The latest version of VLC is available for download now, free as always.
