The Mac mini has sat neglected since a 2012 update that coincided with the launch of the original iPad mini. Is 2014 the year that Apple dusts off the pint-sized PC and refreshes the desktop unit with new hardware and specs? According to information gleaned from a Belgian retailer Computerstore.be’s online storefront, a new Mac mini could be right around the corner.

The retailer has created placeholder pages for i5 and i7 versions of the Mac mini, introducing Intel Haswell architecture to the line. Other mentioned updates include Intel Iris integrated graphics and 802.11ac WiFi.

Such product placeholders are not the most accurate means of predicting product refreshes or release dates. According to folks contacting Computerstore.be, however, representatives say the information comes from Apple or a close source. If this were to pan out we may see the new Mac mini by the end of February, but we’re not holding our breath.
