While guitar purists have long preferred tube amps for their classic, analog sound, Line 6 has never been one to shy away from the future. Their line of digital modeling amps and effects boxes aim to use modern technology to cram as many tones into a single amplifier as possible. Their latest claims to reinvent the guitar amp as we know it.

The Amplifi range comes with two main features that set it apart from the pack. It has built-in Bluetooth streaming, which not only allows you to jam along with your favorite songs but also turns the amp into one monster boom box. Line 6 could have stopped there, but instead they built an iOS app that allows guitarists to shape the tone of the amp, save patches, and share them with the greater community of Amplifi owners. The app can even be used to detect and match the guitar tones of music from your phone’s library.

In terms of hardware, the Amplifi comes in two varieties. A 150 watt and 75 model feature a 12-inch Celestion speaker and 8-inch custom speaker, respectively. These main drivers are supplemented with smaller speakers to create a five-speaker stereo arrangement. The smaller of the two can be had $400 while the big daddy sells for $500.
