Yes, Apple’s short film/ad honoring the Mac’s 30th anniversary looks gorgeous. Yes, “1.24.14” was really shot entirely with iPhones. A lot more, however, went into producing the video. Apple has given us a behind-the-scenes look at how they managed to pull off the shoot in 10 countries around the world over the span of just one day.
Spoiler alert: they used iPhones and iPads for that too, plus Macs to edit the final video and a boatload of other equipment including steadicams and dollies to capture those beautiful sweeping shots. Even with all the extra equipment necessary, this look behind the curtain is perhaps an even better iPhone ad than the original video released yesterday.
