Apple has announced that the first Apple Store to be located on Brazilian soil will open its doors on February 15th. The store will be located in Rio de Janeiro’s luxury shopping complex VillageMall.

Talk of the Rio store has been circulating the past few weeks, but this is the first official word from Apple on the opening. Many believe the upcoming World Cup and the associated influx of travelers headed to see the games played a part in Apple’s decision to set up shop in the country.

Known for interesting store designs that often blend into the local architecture, it is unclear if Apple’s Rio location will follow that path or take a more standard format. No pictures of the new store have been released.

We can expect Apple to kick things off with a bang, especially in Rio, a city known for its celebrations. The store will open to its first customers at 11AM local time.
