So you’re having buyers remorse about that iPhone? If, for whatever reason, you want to return your new phone to Apple for a full refund, how long do you have? The answer is 14 days — 14 calendar days.
Apple quietly changed the iPhone return policy from a full 30 days — a full month — to two weeks rather quietly, but users shouldn’t feel shocked or hoodwinked. The time period is more in line with the return window wireless carriers offer customers for the return of mobile devices, and Apple has had a longstanding 14-day return policy for most other high-ticket items in their stores (computers, iPods, and accessories included).
We assume devices bought prior to the switch will still be honored under the 30-day policy, but moving forward customers will only have 14 days to decide on whether or not to return their iPhone.
The good news? If you have missed the 14 day window but still want to part ways with your new iPhone, the handset, especially the iPhone 5s, still commands a premium on secondary markets. A like-new iPhone with less than one month of usage is likely to sell for close to retail price on sites like eBay or Craigslist. Of course, that requires a bit more work than simply exchanging at the Apple Store. Our suggestion? Keep the iPhone, you’re bound to end up loving it.
