CNBC came out with their list of the 25 most influential people in the world yesterday, and at the top of the list were the two people that shaped and influenced the way we use computers more than anyone else in the modern era–Steve Jobs & Bill Gates. As often is the case with lists like these, the results will be met with great debate and passion for the people who made the list and those who were left out.

CNBC alluded to the fact that this list was created/debated/argued for and against by their advisory board, and was also influenced by their own coverage of business, markets and world events over the past quarter-century. In addition, they made it clear that in no way was this list comprised as a montage to any one particular individual or that it was in any way a popularity contest.

You might argue for or against those included as being the “most” influential, or that perhaps the top two choices could very easily be swapped in favor for Bill Gates–fair argument. In they end, the only thing these lists are good for is promoting something we all should be doing more of everyday anyway–spending time in deep thought.

What would you change?  Who would you add or subtract?  Do you think CNBC got it right, or are they far off base?  Let us know in the comment section below.
