Purported internal iPhone 6 schematics from Foxconn, one of Apple’s main production partners, have revealed some interesting information regarding the size and appearance of both iPhone 6 models expected to be announced September 9th at Apple’s rumored iPhone Media event.
The information outlined in the documents, if accurate, provide us with some of the most specific dimensions to date for both the 4.7″ and 5.5″ iPhone 6 models. Details are shown in the comparison graphic below. The iPhone 6 models are referred to in the graphic as N51 for the iPhone 5S, N61 for the 4.7″ version, and N56 for the 5.5″ version, with the 5.5″ version appearing to be described in two separate prototypes dimensions–perhaps indicating late changes to overall size and weight, and not two separate 5.5″ models. Notable in these leaked documents are the protruding camera lenses on both versions of the iPhone 6. It will be interesting to see if Apple stays with this design philosophy with the final product.
Apple is expecting to sell record numbers of the newly designed, larger iPhone 6 models–allegedly ordering 40-50 million 4.7″ versions alone. While we don’t know for sure if rumored production delays will force a staggered release schedule that will push the 5.5″ iPhone 6 to later in the quarter, it is still looking as though it will be announced along side the 4.7″ version. We have seen an increase in frequency of larger part leaks in the last few weeks that would indicate 5.5″ production is underway as well.
