Send & Receive SMS/MMS Messages

Now not only can you view iMessages sent from other iOS devices on your Mac, but you can also view and send messages to everyone in your contacts, even if they don’t have an iPhone or iPad.

Mute Conversations

Just like with your iPhone or iPad, you can also mute conversations so you will not be notified every time you receive a new message.  However, you will still be able to go back and view any messages at your leisure.

Make Phone Calls from your Mac

As long as your iPhone and Mac are both on the same Wi-fi network you will be able to make phone calls from your Mac using your iPhone telephone number.

Screen Sharing

While iMessaging with s friend who is also using Yosemite, you can now share your screen from within the app

Add & Remove people from Conversations

Now, at any point during a group conversation, you can both add new people and remove someone just as easily. The same also goes for leaving a conversation.  You can choose to leave a group conversation at any time as well.

Once you view a friends location that has been shared through their iPhone, you can continue to follow their location on your Mac

To make it easier to remember what a group conversation was about, you can now name that conversation.  In addition, others will be able to see the same name you choose through their devices.

Start a conversation on your iPhone or iPad, and pick up where you left off on your Mac running Yosemite.

Send an Audio message

Record yourself inside the Messages app on Yosemite and send the audio-clip to your friends
