Booyah is a company put together by former Blizzard devs (makers of classic games like World of Warcraft and Diablo) and funded by the iFund, and they’ve been keeping fairly mum on what they’ve been up to. Until now, that is — they’ve updated their website and dropped a press release, and it looks like they’re working on some iPhone software.
When a new iPhone company is founded by guys with backgrounds that include involvement with World of Warcraft and Diablo, that makes them pretty interesting straight away. They ‘ve also got an easy to remember and strong name (wonder how tough it was to grab that domain name).
Their upcoming app sounds interesting too
Booyah is creating a playful life companion that combines the immersive experiences that draw consumers to massively multi-player online games, the interconnectedness of social media, and the power of iPhone and iPod touch.
‘Imagine that you could play life by pursuing and sharing your passions, ‘ Keith Lee, CEO and co-founder, Booyah, said. ‘Booyah motivates you and others through a mobile companion, everywhere you go. You become a part of an ever-expanding social experiment, inspiring you to challenge yourself and be better at your life.
I think those two paragraphs might win some sort of prize for containing the most current buzzwords you could possibly pack into that number of words. They give me a feeling that this new mystery app will either be hugely lame, or it ‘ll be a huge hit “ no in betweens for this one.
I ‘m curious and keen to see which it ‘ll be “ so I ‘ve signed up to request to be included in their beta. Here ‘s a slice of the info on their site about the beta and their app testing plans:
We’ll be holding numerous user tests over the next few weeks until our launch on the App Store.
With each new release we’ll be adding more people to our test group.
If you want to get in on the beta, just visit their sign-up page HERE.
