I ‘m not an iPhone developer, but I feel like I could almost play one on TV. 🙂 I talk to a lot of devs regularly, and have the utmost admiration for what (the many, many good ones) do, and bring to our iPhones. So speaking as a non-dev, but a dude who could possibly play one on TV, I have to once again say how much I like the Mobile Orchard site.
They don ‘t publish a whole lot of posts per day, but nearly everything they post seems very good stuff to me “ full of useful information, resources, and insight. Some of their articles are way too programmer-ish for me to get much from, but I can tell they ‘re good stuff for those who do this stuff.
Today they ‘ve got an excellent post up from a guest author, that provides 6 tips to get your app noticed “ which must be one of the very biggest challenges facing devs these days, now that we have 35,000 (or is it 40 by now?) apps populating the app store and wanting our attention.
Here ‘s the Bio for Brian Akaka, who wrote the guest post at Mobile Orchard:
Brian Akaka (email) is the Founder/CEO of Appular, an iPhone app marketing and PR agency. Brian was Director/Marketing at Freeverse, where he helped sell millions of apps, including two of the Top-10 paid apps in Apple ‘s ‘One Billionth App ‘ promotion.
As an app user and reviewer, and an iPhone site owner, I have to say Brian ‘s tips seem spot on to me. Here ‘s one I couldn ‘t agree with more
1. Embrace Twitter. Build a Twitter account, and reach out to the community with active participation and updates about your app.
Twitter users are early-adopters, and a large percentage of them are iPhone/touch users. There is a large and growing community of iPhone developers on Twitter and because a lot of the review sites monitor Twitter it ‘s a great way to get noticed.
I ‘ve always found Twitter useful for connecting with both developers and iPhone users, and the amount of interesting developers / apps / sites I discover via Twitter seems to increase each week.
Just by the way, for those who haven ‘t noticed the Twitter badge in our right sidebar, you can follow me / this site on Twitter at @justiphoneblog.
If you ‘re an iPhone apps developer, or planning to be one soon, it ‘s definitely worth checking out Brian ‘s post HERE
