Saw an interesting post at TechCrunch this morning, about an app due to be released this summer by a company called Aha Mobile. They ‘re well funded and their app sounds very interesting, especially if you do a lot of driving with your work or similar. The app is focused on ‘safely connecting drivers to relevant information about the world around them via a mobile device ‘. Here ‘s part of the idea for the as-yet-un-named app:
Aha ‘s vision is to create an iPhone app that gives drivers the information they need outside the car, such as what ‘s traffic like ahead? Where is the nearest bathroom? Where can I grab a cup of coffee before my next meeting?
So far not so exciting right? There are plenty of apps around that offer the same or very similar information. One of my favorites for this is EarthComber. But this little piece of the app ‘s description did grab me:
Aha ‘s CEO, Robert Acker, would not reveal many details about the product since it ‘s still in development and testing but says that Aha will use the iPhone ‘s GPS capabilities and will use voice recognition technology to operate search queries.
I like the idea of more voice recognition apps for the iPhone, and if this is implemented well that should certainly help on the safety aspect of things.
Aha Mobile are looking for beta testers for this application, and offering $100 in iTunes gift cards if you ‘re willing to be an active tester for a period of several weeks, and provide them with regular feedback via online surveys and similar methods.
I work mostly from home these days and just don ‘t drive often enough to be a good tester for this one, otherwise I ‘d be trying to get into the program. You can apply to be a beta tester HERE, if this sounds like something that might interest you
