Gravulous is a $.99 game that lets you create planets of various sizes then blow them up, to be replaced by new planets. Like billiards, you plan your shots, using the walls and other planets to bounce around the screen until your planet comes to rest.

Gameplay is simple, at the bottom of the screen there is a black hole, the Gravulous, that ejects new planets. You simply touch an area of the screen and a new planet is hurled out of the black hole toward the point you laid down on screen bouncing off walls and existing planets until it comes to a stop. Once the planet stops moving it expands, cycling through several planet types, to take up the available room on screen.

The objective of the game is to create, then destroy as many planets as you can. You destroy existing planets by hitting them three times with a new planet as it is hurled out of the Gravulous. Be careful not to get the new planet too close to the Gravulous or it will get sucked back into the black hole and all the other planets will follow, ending the game.

When I first started playing I assumed that I was supposed to get as many planets on screen as possible, so I started slowly filling the screen beginning in the corners to keep the planets small. Once I learned the real objective I changed and started placing planets so I could bounce new planets between multiple established planets, like pinball, and get my score up more quickly. This new strategy is what got me addicted; I kept playing over and over to try and figure out the best positioning to blow up as many planets as possible in a single turn.

The graphics on this game are really well done, the planets look almost photorealistic (the earth one is the best). The App Store description clearly explained the objective, but the in-game instructions could use some clarifying.

While I admit this game became a little addicting, it would be even more so if the team added more objectives rather than just shooting for a high score. Maybe after destroying 5 planets the new planets are hurled out at a different speed or even power ups or other challenges could replace planets being hurled out.

Overall, this game is worth $.99 and a fun little addiction for a few days. You can pick it up on the App Store here.
