Updated iPhone Apps: 1Password & Things

1Password for iPhone 2.0 update

Two of my most used iPhone apps have got shiny new updates in the last day or so “ 1Password, the password manager / digital wallet app, and Things, the task manager program.

1Password ‘s update “ to Version 2.0 “ is its biggest since its original release and includes a number of notable changes as well as many bug fixes.  The update of Things is nowhere near as major, but I was still quite happy to see the first line in its description: ‘improved iPhone OS 3.0 compatibility ‘.

Here are some of the bigger changes in 1Password V 2.0:

  • Full support for wallet items (wallet items can be created and changed on iPhone)
  • Completely reworked WiFi sync to make it faster, more robust, and automatic
  • Added option to view and email WiFi sync history
  • Changed database structure to improve performance and security
  • Greatly improved launch time
  • Improved Add Login and Add Password views

I ‘ve been playing around a little with the new version this morning, and I ‘m impressed with it.  I like being able to see sync history “ this is nice for confirmation that things are going well and can be a big help if troubleshooting or reporting an issue for support.

I ‘ve also noticed the app feels snappier, on launch and overall.

My favorite thing by far though is the automatic sync.  I ‘ve tested this out and it works a treat.  As long as 1Password is open on the Mac(which is no hassle for me, as I ‘ll just keep it minimized), you don ‘t need to do anything to invoke a sync “ it ‘s just done automagically when changes are made on either Mac or iPhone.

The list of bug fixes with version 2.0 is fairly impressive as well.  You can see details on the App Store page.

Both of these updates are available now “ good start to the week on the updates front. 🙂
