New iPhone 3GS on June 19th, $99 iPhone 3G Starting Today

Well, the long-awaited “ and very long-running “ WWDC 2009 keynote is done (after a little over 2 hours) and we got the word on pretty much all the subjects we were all hanging on.  The biggest news items are:

  • The new iPhone model “ the iPhone 3GS “ will be available on June 19th.  Just 11 days away, or 11 agonizing days away, depending on your level of desire for it. 🙂
  • The current iPhone 3G will be on sale for $99 starting today. 
  • The new iPhone OS 3.0 “ with copy&paste and Spotlight search and all its other goodness will be released June 17th “ 2 days before the new iPhone.
  • The new iPhone 3GS name is based on the S standing for speed “ as in it is meant to be many times faster than the 3G.  It includes an upgraded 3 megapixel camera with autofocus and video recording capability “ just as expected.
