Just as promised, iPhone Dev Team member MuscleNerd demo-ed their new software unlock for the iPhone 3G and the iPhone OS 3.0 firmware. In a Qik video, MuscleNerd showed off ultrasn0w, which he called ‘the new yellowsn0w ‘.
Ultrasn0w is for any 3G running the new 3.0 firmware
so no matter which firmware, or bootloader, or previous baseband that you ‘ve had on your 3G, ultrasn0w will unlock it
During the video MuscleNerd also provides some interesting background on the development of ultrasn0w “ including some details about the need to find a new ‘injection vector ‘ (a vulnerability in the iPhone firmware to exploit so that their app can run) “ and how this time the new injection vector was found by ‘one of you ‘ “ an iPhone user called ‘oranav ‘ (or at least that ‘s how I heard it).
