I'm not sure what you're expecting. I would look for updates similar to the NY Times email updates. Most days will pass without any major updates, but some will include two or three. Hopefully, I'll trust AP to determine what constitutes an push alert-worthy event.

In reply to derfasaurus. Yes - I know about those basic settings. What I am concerned about is that an app like AP Mobile may at some point start sending 10 alerts per hour or something. I would like to see some limits or rate of alerts type settings. For an IM app, I might never place any limits, but for something like news apps, I'd likely make use of that sort of setting.

The alert control is inside settings. Click settings, third option down should be Notifications, click on that, now you can set AP Mobile and any other push apps to do Badges, Alerts, Sounds and any combination of the three.
