Like Good Beers? – iPhone App Helps Find Them

Beer Brands app for iPhone

I may have mentioned once or twice, or possibly way more than that, that I ‘m a big beer lover.  And also a lover of good beer.  Not a fan of light beers at all.  I ‘ve recently discovered an iPhone app that helps me learn about nearly 8,000 beer brands, discover good new beers to try, and keep track of favorite brews.

Beer Brands provides a wealth of good information on over 7,800 beers, more than enough to help you build up your ‘Beer Connoisseur ‘ skills.  Ironically, there is another app in the App Store actually called Beer Connoisseur, but it covers a measly 1,400 beers.

Here are some of Beer Brands ‘ features, per its App Store page:

  • Find out what is best served with each beer
  • Educate yourself with each beer ‘s details
  • Beer Style and Introduction year
  • Beer brewery and brewery type
  • Containers and glasses used to hold the beer
  • Serving temperature, fermentation type, pasteurization
  • Alcohol by Volume/Weight
  • Bookmark favorite beer brands
  • Browse through all beer brands easily through an indexed list
  • Use the search bar to easily find a specific beer
  • Jump to a beer style category to find related beers
  • Email feature to send information about a beer to your friends

That ‘s a big features list for a beer app I ‘d say “ and they are well executed within the app as well.

I like this app a lot so far.  Browsing by Beer Styles is a good way to find more beers that suit your tastes

I ‘m not sure how often I ‘ll ever make use of the ‘best served with ‘ suggestions, but it ‘s handy to have it there in case it ‘s wanted

One of my favorite features is the Favorites list.  It ‘s populated with some far-from-great beers when you first use the app “ cough, Budweiser, cough “ but that is easily corrected, as you can edit and delete lame entries, and add, just for example, Texas ‘ finest

Overall, this app has been a mug of frosty goodness to use.  Well, maybe not quite that “ but it promises to be a big help next time I need to choose a frosty mug of goodness. 🙂

AgeRating

*** Please Note:  Beer Brands is a 17+ rated app (the first one I ‘ve purchased).  It is given this rating for the following reasons:

Infrequent/Mild mature /suggestive themes.
Freqent/Intense Alcohol, Tobacco, or Drug references.

You can find Beer Brands in the App Store now, and it ‘s a free app.
